T4E Walther M2 Gen2 Review – Realistic Enough ?

Last updated on November 6th, 2023

Back in 2020, I faced some issues with my T4E HK VP9 as my side paintball pistol. I had to participate in a local entry-level tournament, I needed a marker with the best trigger and well-built sidelocks. Those days, the T4E Walther PPQ M2 was regarded to have far and away the best trigger in the market

In the meantime, I happened to take some shots from my friend’s Walther PPQ pistol. And then I realized why such hype had been created all around for this pistol to be the most realistic and best training pistol out there. So I decided to invest in this darling marker and order mine.

After using T4E Walther M2 for about 2 years, I have decided to give a detailed review of all the features Now let’s go straight to the core.

Inside the Box:

Immediately after receiving it, I pop opened the box and found several things along with the marker. Firstly the hard case looked solid yet cheap to me. However, It still last to the date so the overall box quality is good.

The box in the inside included a little squeegee for cleaning up the barrel, a stiff spring in there to be used in the magazine when playing with rubber balls and a user manual

Design

The gun has a very neat look. The slide is made of metal and the base is of high-quality feel polymer. It is not covered in garish, white letters, and any branding is pretty subtle. The front and rear sights have yellow dots. And the rear one can be adjusted to the right or left by using a screwdriver to aid sighting.

This gives a nice touch to the gun. However, I don’t feel comfortable with these open sights so I mostly use an external sighting aid. There is a rail below the slide where it can be put. The grip of the gun was quite comfortable to grab and the feel in the hand was pretty nice.

Performance

I use this for my shooting drills and as a side pistol for paintball tournaments. It was ahead of the game for self-defense as well.

The mechanics and functions were on the mark. Recoil and loading another round is done at an eye-blink pace and has a super cool blowback sensation. The sights line up with no gap so its accuracy is a real bonus. However, action is somewhat dampened rather than a quick, sharp bang when engaged. It is excellent for training purposes. It shoots dead-on straight for a 43 caliber and has a good range.

It gives a good velocity of about 350 fps however, The velocity seems to be non-adjustable. But no worries, I will tell you the way I use to adjust the velocity. Here you go! Prior to loading the paintballs, I load the CO2 and then I dry fire five shots. Afterward, I load the paintballs. In this way, the velocity falls to around 300 fps. The 12-gram cartridge loses velocity with each shot.

Magazine

All the mechanics of the gun lies inside the magazine so there is no pain of taking off the slide just to change a seal, like we used to do in old APS ram marker. Accessing the seals is just a childsplay, all it takes is a single screw to be undone. The magazine also has a rubberized plastic belt incorporated into it to avoid jamming or dislocation.

Magazine ejects with ease and falls quickly as a real one should. But everything comes with drawbacks and so does this magazine. It is not so solid. So if you unintentionally drop it on a surface like concrete, it can bend and get damaged. And you may shed a tear because these magazines are expensive.

So you have to be careful. I had to bought an extra till now despite being cautious.

After loading it, you must have the follower engage, or the paintballs will fall out. This is so because there’s no real detent keeping the paintballs in without the follower engage. This is a huge downside as you may dimple your paintballs. So if you are using this kit, you shouldn’t skimp on paintballs.

I would recommend opening and locking the slide back before you put the magazine in.

Safety mechanism

Beneath the slide, there is a safety which is quite comparable but isn’t as stiff to work as the beretta px4.  It only requires a simple push down to put it into the safe and a push forward and lift to put it into the fire mode. The trigger is fully locked until it is in safe mode.

One of the most noticeable safety features of this awesome piece of kit is the double trigger. It cannot be mistakenly pulled when holstered. One must be intentional to pull the trigger. If you try to pull it without pushing the lip down, it will not function.

Hence it is much safer to carry around. I will definitely support any firearm with a slew of levels of safety.

Best Pistol for Self defense?

The idea of owing a firearm especially with my kids around has always made me uncomfortable. However, with this non-lethal pistol yet very realistic in your hands, because of its weight, i was at ease. This pistol can fire rubber balls as well as pepper balls. Compared to pepper spray, with quality pepper balls, this pistol can create clouds and hence can keep every potential attacker from advancing.

I found this product of a superior quality than the options available in the market. Definitely a great option to consider if you’re looking Salt gun or a non-salt gun. The accuracy with it was surprisingly good and it performed flawlessly. I would totally recommend it for a non-lethal self defense option.

Realistic feel

It is somewhat heavy not a very lightweight setup. This gives it a real feel in the hands and i could definitely feel. Its 860 grams weight gives the most realistic feeling. In most modern models, real metal is used in the slide So, a big fraction of weight is at the topmost point.

On the contrary, this impressive piece of kit is not at all top-heavy. It is so because the high-quality polymer is used at the bottom. It has a very balanced mass which gives a genuine vibe while using it.

Reloading the magazine into the firearm is aided by the slide release and lock mechanism by the lock open lever on the left side. This also greatly enhances the realism. However, I am not really a realistic markers fan. They have a lot of moving parts and springs in them that compromise their durability which wasn’t the case with this one.

Cleaning

One day, I tried to pull it apart to clean it up but the manual mentions no way of doing so. Rather it was told that if you disassemble it, you would void the warranty. So the only way to have it cleaned is to send it to the factory. If you try to maintain it yourself you will revoke the guarantee. There are no breakdown options. The slide isn’t meant to be pulled off. This is one thing i wish could be improved in this pistol.

Pros and Cons

Things i Liked

  • Amazingly realistic feel
  • Super fun to shoot
  • Best for training and self-defense
  • Accurate shots

Things i didn’t like

  • The magazine is sturdy yet so frangible – You have to be careful with them as they are expensive
  • Velocity is non-adjustable

T4E Walther PPQ M2 vs T4E HK VP9

I have been using both of these paintball pistols for a long time. They resemble much in appearance but they have a lot of differences.

Firstly, The tang on the HK VP9 is significantly more well-rounded, allowing you to comfortably place your hand pretty high on the weapon. While in Walther PPQ M2, each side of the tang has a squared-off ledge. If you attempt to hold it with a high grip, you won’t be able to do so.

Although HK VP9 has a bit more grip length, it is not perfect to hold if you have large hands. This is due to the more pronounced finger grooves and the hump at the bottom of the last finger groove. On the other hand, Walther PPQ M2 has a more leveled grip. So it is a bit more forgiving in case of grip.

The HK VP9 trigger has a light take-up. If you strike a hard wall, it will be followed by a break. Hence, there is nothing special in it. But it is not awful either. It’s just a decent, reliable striker-fired trigger. Comparatively, Walther PPQ M2 has a very heavy take-up.

I personally believe that the Walther PPQ’s trigger is the best striker-fired trigger currently available. If you’re moving swiftly, it’s incredibly simple to pull through it without even sensing the wall. The reset on the Walther PPQ is exceptionally quick and clean.

The sidelocks of the Walther PPQ M2 are more reliable. Both left- and right-handed shooters may easily access them due to their excellent shape and large size. The HK VP9 slide lock, however, is slightly depressed on the left side. It is also minor on the right side. I prefer the larger side locks of Walther PPQ M2.

Bottom Line

Finally, I would say, if you are seeking a realistic secondary weapon, it is undeniably the best choice. I had a great experience with this paragon. It goes well with almost all types of ammo. You should go for this beauty if you want to shoot tin cans, knock down targets, do training, play paintball or have a home defense setup.

So Ready to rock and roll?
