T4e glock 17 gen 5 cover

So I was looking for a side arm for a tournament where super teams like AC Dallas, and Latin Saints were taking part. So, having used the Gen 4 pistol and T4E Walther M2, I thought about giving a try to Gen 5 of T4E Glock 17 this time.

It is the first paintball pistol with an official license for paintball fans. So without further ado, I opted for upgrading my marker from the old version Gen 4 to the brand new Gen 5. After a few days of placing the order, there it was drop shipped to my doorstep.

So here’s my hands on review – Let’s start:

Inside the Box

So one fine evening I received the box. The case was hard and the quality of the case looked great. Inside the box a pull through type cleaner was supplied that i am using till the date and found it quite handy. The case had four extra back straps on the top which help to alter the size of the grip depending upon the size of one’s hands.

This case with straps is a limited version. Furthermore, the package contained the pistol, one magazine, and a little mop.

The Design

The pistol has a very lovely finish with a high-quality ballistic polymer frame at the bottom. Its texture was so tactile which gave a solid grip. Like all Glocks, the finger placement was ideal in this one as well. The top slide is CNC milled from aluminum.

design analysis

The magazine has all the mechanics to propel the projectile from the pistol. So it’s the only part that needs proper maintenance. It has got the perfect spring so far unlike in the earlier versions, where we had to change the spring according to the bullets. But this good quality spring can work with literally any kind of ammo. So there is no trouble of changing the spring over and over.

I found its design very impressive, theres no need to mess around with allen keys. It has Glock stamps all over that makes its body so charming.

Performance

After using it as side gun in paintball tournaments and testing it in my shooting trainings, I can say with certainty that the marker was worth all the money spent. I had a very controlled action with this marker.  Compared to the 0.68 markers, it fires at a higher speed so fps is greater. But the rounds are much smaller so power output is much less. Hence there are no chances of any damage.

This beauty with an official license has a super cool realistic action which makes it one of the best. It is a 43-caliber firearm and It performs very well congruent with its caliber.

Sometimes, while shooting, the magazine gets dry. In such a situation, the slide stays in the back position until a new magazine is set. The slide is so hefty that it will surprise you with the recoil it has got. You get a very nice feeling while getting a blowback as it recoils. It’s a real hit.

However, it doesn’t offer a massive range. It will disappoint you if you try it from a 100 feet distance. But it did a really good job for short ranges. Also, it doesn’t have an adjustable velocity, something you will always expect from Umarex markers.

I have tested it with Shooting chalk rounds, paintball rounds, rubber ball rounds, powder ball rounds, and pepper shot ball rounds for training or recreation desires. It flawlessly met all my expectations. I also found it a great option for self defense and i carry it as a non-lethal weapon option.

Trigger function

The blade trigger provides double-action safety helping in preventing accidental discharges. My Glock gen 5 marker never happened to fire by chance in my holster. I also carried it several times for self defense or purposelessly just to show off, but it never went off subconsciously. I definitely felt more secure and confident while taking it around.

Quick Pierce Magazine

There has always been chaos about refilling the gas however, this gen 5 pistol has made it much simple. It is operated by a CO2 cartridge, now been upgraded to an immaculate one, previously we used to load the CO2 by using an allen key to tighten it up.

But in its well-built design, you only have to twist the bottom of the magazine clockwise, put the co2, and adjust the screw at the bottom to meet the CO2. Once it’s secure, turn it back anticlockwise to pierce the CO2. And the magazine is prepared to fire. to get the CO2 out, just turn it open. This will take all the CO2 out.

Pros and Cons

Things i Liked

  • Ideal for training at home or the range
  • Great option for self defense
  • Has blade trigger with extra safety
  • No rattling at all
  • Easier to load up the gas
  • Made of high-quality materials

Things i didn’t like

  • Doesn’t give a long-range
  • A bit expensive
  • Velocity is non-adjustable

Glock 17 – Gen 4 vs Gen 5

I have been using both of these kits for a considerable time. I have noticed a few significant differences between the two.

The grip of gen 4 firearms has finger grooves. According to the people using Glock pistols, this has been probably the most disparaged feature. So as a response, these finger grooves on the grips are replaced in gen 5 by grooves on the slide

In Gen 5, the front of the slide is comparatively curved with slanted corners whereas gen 4 has more slab front. This feature of gen 5 assists in holstering. Also, the nice finishing of the slide, without exaggeration, gives it a stunning look.

Another refinement I noticed in gen 5 is that there is absolutely, and unequivocally no rattling even if you try so hard. On the other hand, gen 4 has a little bit of rattle. Moreover, Gen 4 is powered by economical airsoft green gas while gen 5 is powered by a 12g CO2 cylinder installed in the magazine which is easier to load up.

Conclusion

In a nutshell, This Glock 17 gen 5 replica will be perfect for your practice purposes with a multitude of ammunition. It is setting new standards for being so sturdy and realistic.

So it is just made for you if you wanna do training, keep side arm in paintball game, or ensure self-defense. You won’t regret buying it. Stay safe shoot safe!
